Very overrated, but still alright.

This game is not that good. I don't know what people are thinking, some say it's one of the best games of the 16 bit generation. Some say it's one of the greatest games of all time. Well that's simply not true. When I heard those things about this game I said, "I've gotta get it on the virtual console." So I did. As soon as I started the first level I knew it wasn't as good as I heard. Pretty much the only thing you do is hold the A button. Holding the A button is not fun. The game throws a large amount of people/robots at you, all of them just shooting in your general direction, and they never stop. They don't try to avoid you, or anything and it gets old fast. I also heard that it has incredible boss battles. Ummmmm........... no. They are just bigger versions of enemies. They don't try to dodge you or anything. One time the boss was walking towards me and I was holding the A button. He just kept walking towards me and was dead in a couple seconds. Basically, all you do is shoot, their is no strategy involved and not much skill and it get's old fast.
The graphics are pretty good, but nothing special. They are exactly what you would expect. The sound is mediocre as well. The music is not at all memorable, and mostly sounds like a bunch of noise. The sound is like the graphics, pretty good, but nothing special. Just a bunch of gunfire and the same old yell from the main characters over and over. I have not actually beat this game simply because I do not enjoy it enough to play anymore, and I only got to the 5th level. But I looked at the guides in gamefaqs and I think it said that their were 7. So it is not long, but their are multiple difficulties.
So, Gunstar Heroes is a boring overrated game, where you simply hold one button the whole time. How it was rated higher the Super Mario 64 (the greatest game ever) is beyond me. I should of got Sonic the Hedgehog instead.
EDIT: I decided to raise the gameplay one point, because it has a pretty fun multiplayer.
