A very worthy virutal console download.

Gunstar Heros is a relatively obscure sega genesis title from what i have heard. But that certainly does not change the fact that it was and definitely still is an exceptionally fun game. It is action packed and fast paced throughout. The game often seems very over the top in terms of how much action is happening on the screen at once, but this is all for the best is making the game what it is. Obviously your main weapon is your gun. There are multiple pickups in the game that allow different shooting combinations such as homing and fire, or speed and lighting. Each of these combos are very different and force you the alter your strategy depending on which one you choose. Some combos will be devastating against certain bosses. Unlike many games around this time there are boss battles in the middle of levels, they offer up a slight change of pace. The graphics were excellent for this era. This game had some three dimensional elements that in my opinion still look cool today. Other than that they added to the chaos happening on screen. The sound i think could have been better. While the music was memorable the sound effects almost seemed grainy at times. This is certainly excusable though, still a wicked fun game. At only 800 wii points this game will keep you entertained a couple plays through. It isnt very long, however.
If you are looking for a VC and have the wii points for it, Gunstar Heroes is a great choice.
