I was amazed at how such a fantastic storyline, delivered with magnificent cut-scenes could be attached to such a crap game. There's only three dungeon types, to be trudged through dozens of times, and there are only a small handful of different enemy types. The fighting pretty much boiled down to rapid button mashing, but the Rengeki moves sorta' kept it fun. The only place I could a real challenge when fighting was in the arena though. The thing that bugged me most about this game was how completely linear and hand-holdy it was, ESPECIALLY for an RPG. The game constantly tells you exactly what to do before you even get a chance to figure it out for yourself. On top of that it forces you to go to certain places by restricting access to everywhere else, and if you are ever able to find somewhere else to go, you get treated to whatever story-point related character you were forced to choose or some other annoying guy constantly nagging you to go to that target area, as if you don't know that you're going the wrong way after two hours.. Granted, most RPG's do that during the first couple of hours, but not through the entire game. It was like a 20+ hour tutorial. It's heart-breaking; I played Rebirth through because I did love the story a great deal, and the cut-scenes were amazing. However, I just can't in good conscience waste any more time or money on three more of these things.
