This game does a great job of giving you that MMORPG feel without having the MMO part.

I like this game based purely on the fact that it takes the concepts of a MMORPG and puts it into a RPG. It doesn't do a perfect just, but a pretty good one and it has a fairly interesting (and confusing) story line. Of course, it's only part one and the introduction to the .Hack// world, so it's not a complete story but it's a good start. I just hope the rest of them continue to be decent games.
One part I particularly like is how you can really customize your time with several different characters. Of course, there are certain specific characters you must have (Rosa) but the third party member is completely free for you to choose. I also like how there really isn't specific classes. They may have the whole 'Twin Blade', 'Heavy Blade', 'Wavemaster', etc., which specify what weapons and armor you can use but everyone has skills and spells, both combat and support, and can use any item available. And that skills and spells aspect is what really makes a character customizable, not the weapon and armor. Sure, you can get some very unique weapons and armor but so can anyone else. The real customization is in the skills and spells, not the equipment.
All in all, this is a good start to what looks to be an interesting story line so I hope I right good review for the rest of the games!
