A good idea put to bad use.

User Rating: 6.3 | .hack//Infection Part 1 PS2
Despite some of the good reviews given by some people, "Dot Hack Part 1: Infection" isn't for everybody. For example, this game was highly recommended by an obsessor of the Dot Hack games, anime, and mangas. I decided to give it a shot along with another friend of mine because of this. Eighteen dollars I bought this game for, used. On my account, it wasn't worth the money. I could have rented it twice for eight dollars less, and still finished it. But length isn't the true problem here.

Gameplay: Not the greatest responses to the player controlling the character, but the layout for the controls is pretty good, I must admit. It was also good that the game featured its own tutorial, but it was way too long, and the character teaching you talked way too much, and his voice got annoying. It was way too easy at the beginning of the game, though. Even when it got to the end, it was still pretty easy, but that I can deal with.

Graphics: Okay, not great, but just okay. It could have been better, but graphics still aren't the biggest concern in this game. But that is what comes up next.

Sound: Wow... wow... Not the good "wow" but the bad. The responses to the actions in the game were okay, but they were good compared to the characters' voices. They all sounded like they were nine years old. All except for Orca, Balmung, Sanjuro, and Helba. Orca's still got annoying because it sounded as if he were forty, although he was supposed to sound like he was in junior high! Balmung's was good, probably the only one besides Helba that sounded their age. Sanjuro's was good too, but it got annoying hearing it over and over again. And as I said before: All the rest sounded like they were nine. The worst voice acting I've heard in ten years.

Value: Not as good as the Gameplay, nor as good as the Graphics, but a little better than the sound. The length of the game was too short. They spent too much space with all of the extra keywords we really didn't need.
Plus the fact that there's even more in the second, third, and fourth games just frustrates me.

Tilt: It truly would have been a great game, but they over did the littlest things that they didn't need to. It was a great idea, and could have been a great simulated MMORPG, but this is one of the reasons why there are no others.

Another thing is, although the short length of the game is a good thing, you probably won't want to finish it.
