Another fun game in the Half-Life series.

User Rating: 9.5 | Half-Life 2: The Black Box (Episode Two) PC
This is another enjoyable game in the half life series. I enjoy the way each episode offers something distinct from the other episodes, yet ties in to everything in that story. Example - episode 1 had lots of combine and flying robo-blades encounters whereas Episode 2 was mostly outdoors with hunters and striders encounters.

Best of all for me is the way the story goes from an action sequence to a non action sequence which really helps the player get a sense of his/her relationship with the other characters and your role in the grand scheme.

As usual the sound and fx are great and works well with the story. The voice overs are spot on; the effort taken to make these characters seem 'real' is what makes this game stand out from all the others out there. Visually the graphics are very atmospheric and effective - nothing gives you the 'oh crap' feeling more than looking up at a bridge in the distance with combine, striders and advisor being deployed in your direction, and stormy portal brewing behind them. oh yeah ...

I noticed on my system that the game loads better than episode 1 (episode 1 would stutter a little and i'd wait for a few seconds more before moving my character around), so that's good.

Overall there's not much to complain about with this episode and half life fans or newbies will get a kick out of it.
