Quite an engaging game

I had never played the first Half-Life, but I had heard good things about this one, so I picked it up. I must say that I am quite pleased with it. The game play is pretty easy to learn and pick up. The storyline is interesting. The controls are pretty standard and easy to use, also customizable if you're uncomfortable with them/left handed. I'm on the normal setting, and it's actually quite challenging. I've died in this game more than most others. The game isn't overly hard, but it does have it's challenges. It just lets you go, and you have to figure everything out on your own. Sure, some other in-game character might tell you something, like to meet them there, it's up to you to figure out how to get there. There are no 'mission quest' screens to go to, nothing that tells you what you're currently trying to accomplish, so that's another challenge to the game. The load times for different areas are pretty quick, but it can be rough getting into the new area. I believe it's a frame rate problem, but i'm not really sure. All I know is i've nearly died because of it once. Anyway, all in all it's a pretty solid game. You always feel like you're just about to run out of ammo, just about to die, or confused, but that what makes it fun and challenging. If you don't have it, get it. You won't be disappointed.
