Don't be a hater!!! 5-years-ago, this game was revolutionary! If you review it today, you may find it mediocre...

I read a couple of reviews that have been recently posted, and apparently the reviewers have no knowledge of the Half-Life storyline. The storyline, albeit somewhat difficult for people with no knowledge of the Half-Life storyline is there! I mean, the game is named "Half-Life 2" for some reason, right? In it's time, Half-Life was revolutionary in it's gameplay and story-line. In the same way, HL2 was revolutionary for it's gameplay, and to a somewhat lesser degree, it's story-line. Trying to review a game that is nearly 5-years-old, is like rating a five-year-old used car versus 2010 model vehicles. Of course they are going to have new technology and better fuel-economy! But all else being equal, HL2 was the Ferrari of it's time... Pushing video and CPU's to their limits, while at the same time scaling back to be playable on older hardware. This is something Crysis, which is also revolutionary in its own right, is almost as successful as doing, while not quite as efficiently or playable... even on "brand-new" systems! HL2 continues to scale nicely as it has moved from my older single core AMD, and Radeon 9800 Pro to my current: Phenom II X4 BE, and Radeon 4970 w/Triple-SLI, etc.

Still plays and looks nice... Until HL3 comes in with the next revolution in gameplay...
