The games' FPS mechanics are the same as every other shooter. I mean, that part has pretty much been done well by a lot of games since Doom. Hell, when you get right down to it, every FPS is basically Doom with a little more candy on it. But this game is definitely awesome. The graphics are kind of a weird mix. Sometimes they'll be almost cinematic in quality while others will be plain ugly. It's got to do with that distancing thing where when you stand far away, less detail, but the closer you get, there's more. Sometimes this can reverse itself and up close stuff looks pretty ugly. But other times you'll watch in game footage and cutscenes and think, 'It's all in game? Damn." Gameplay is that trademark of Halo that we've seen copied into the genetic makeup of most shooters since the first. Two weapon system, so you can only carry two at a time. But duel-wielding is an interesting twist. Lots of good combos for you. Thing is, some weapons are better dual-wielded than not. Like the SMGs for example. One is good, but two is definitely better. The vehicles are great, I like them. Especially since now you can blow them away like actual vehicles, you know? The story is pretty much in the middle. A lot of people think the ubersecret or plot twist or whatever is that there are multiple Halos, but that's been known since the first one. It was just more obvious than the first one. I think the plot twist has to do with the Covenant's internal disputes, since that can really shift the way Halo 3 plays out. Maybe the Covenant won't be the main enemy in the third one, you know? Most of the enemies are the same but they've made some adjustments on some, like having the Flood parasites be able to re-infest dead hosts, and brought in some new guys, like Buggers and Brutes. The sound is something else. One of the best musical scores I ever heard. Weapons sounds are great too. Voices are well done as well, Johnson's got more character than in the previous iteration. The Multiplayer is something I have no experience in since I don't have XBL. But the single player is pretty replayable because it's more nonlinear, especially since vehicles take more precedence here than in the first. From what I hear, the MP is great, but like always the experience is hampered by the freaks who make it a bad experience. Racists, teamkillers, whatever. They're in every game. A lot of people like to scream about how 'bad' it is, especially the Sony and PC fanboys. But Bungie doesn't get enough credit, because while the ending was diappointing, it sets us up for the third one and is overall a solid game. I have only a few qualms about it. But who the hell cares, just play it. It's fun.
