A good game on it's own, but not as good as the original

This game seemed to fall short of what Halo put down, in the name of "Balance" it destroyed everything that made Halo so fun to play until 5 o'clock in the morning. There is in fact a broken sense of what balance is in this game, as a newbie can pick up an energy sword and fly 15 feet and kill a guy in one hit while an expert can't kill a guy with a shotgun from 6 feet away. Gameplay was very frustrating before patching in how weak the grenades and melee's were but that has since been solved. The game is supposed to be more, "realistic" with destroyable terrain and vehicles, but this becomes very distorted as the weapons seem very underpowered in multi-player, and the game takes place very little in the gritty street to street fighting that the E3 video introduced us to. The graphics are decent, though certain aspects seem like they were left undone in the levels, and the levels themselves are very unimaginative in multiplayer. The bumpmapping of the characters isn't the best, but it does add a level of complexity to the character models and as a whole makes the models more realistic. The Single player is not worth the wait, as it fails to deliver a solid gameplay experiance storywise, and you feel unfufilled at the end, as you have only played half the game as the Masterchief, and as such it feels like you indeed only played half the game. Playing as the Elite feels boring and repetitive as both your friends and enemies look the same, and the vehicles, and weapons are the same. It is like a boring mini-game that takes up half your time. The Multi-player is glitchy and laggy(most console multiplayer experiances are), but very addictive. A true stat system would have been fun, but the level system please enough. Cheating and the overall community kills the game, as you have many underage people cursing and yelling, or just plain smack talking(in a bad way) to other players. The gameplay seems very broken and i think a few more months of beta testing would have pleased me much more, or maybe just leaving cheap weapons like the Plasma pistol and the sword out of most levels. All in all it is a worth playing game, but a huge let down of what it could and should have been.
