Odds are you know What Halo 2 is. You’ve heard about and hopefully played at least. But in case you’re new to games, or have been living under a rock for the last 8 months, here is what you’ve missed. Halo is a game is in the distant future about an Alien race from a distant galaxy know as the Covenant. They believe that the humans are an insult to their religion and must be exterminated. But Earths not going down without a fight, here’s where you come in. You are a Super solider from an experimental project Where humans where altered through surgery, training, and drugs and code named Spartans. Basically the game boils down to you "saving the world" if you will. Sounds pretty simple right? Well its not Halos originality that makes it great its Halos perfection that makes it good. Everything about Halo works. Game play: The game play is mind blowing. For both single player Campaign and multiplayer. For now lets focus on the Campaign. As you Defend earth from its takers you do it with an amazing arsenal of weapons. Halos got all the FPS essentials (Rocket Launcher, Pistol, SMG, Rifles, ect.), as well as some you unique twists on weapons (an energy sword that doesn’t look like a light saber for once) and the game lets you dual wield some of the smaller weapons. The controls work like a lucid dream to say the least. The game basically boils down to a really great mix of run and gun action, with vehicular combat mixed in and a few other action sequences in there for good measure. The game never gets boring even though there will be scenarios were your not doing anything new. Also, one of the more innovative features in the game, rechargeable shields. No more looking around for health packs, just take cover and wait a few seconds till your shields reload and bam! Your back in fray good as new. Graphics: It’s very important to note that this review was written over 6 months after the games original release. And the graphics are the only thing that has not held up. At the games release these graphics were spectacular. But since then there’s seen better graphics from the Xbox. That doesn’t mean the graphics are bad either, their just not flashy or super realistic. During some of the games cut scene though you see some fantastic lighting effects and since everything else in the game is so good it’s easy to overlook. Sound: The sound in halo 2 may very well be the best in any game to date. It is quite Superb in every aspect. The voice acting is great with some celebrity voice acting as well as an awesome sound track. I found it so good I bought the soundtrack too. The effects in the game sound wise are excellent as well. Multiplayer: Halo is and has been one of the top online titles since its release and will most probably be until Halo 3 is released. Its good offline too offering both split screen, system link where you can play about a dozen different game types and even do co-op through the single player campaign mode. Support: Bungie has continued to follow up on its Master piece by offering updates and content over Xbox live and through retail map disks. This shows one thing that is obvious in Halo 2, it was a labor of love. Every detail taken care of, and scenario taken into consideration, so on and so fourth. There’s so many great things about Halo 2, you almost feel like your being spoiled when you play. Yeah its that good. THE BOTTOM LINE ______________________________________________________________________ I could sit here and say infinitely many good things about Halo 2, but Id like to take the time to tell you, if you haven’t bought this game yet stop reading this and go buy it. Its one of my favorite games of all time and will probably be for years to come. IF you thought this review was good, help full or beneficial to you in any way please leave positive feedback, and excuse any spelling mistakes I’m a rookie typer.
