Halo2 is a must for Xbox owners
Finally November of 2004 it was released, people camped out of EB games awaiting their preordered copy and everyone rushed home to play, skipping school and work. and well....
Its a damn good game.
I mean it didnt flop, like Halo Haters said, but then again it wasnt "God in video game form" either. for us reasonable people it was just a very enjoyable game.
One of the great things about Halo2 is the Multiplayer. No more dragging your Xbox to your friends house and getting 15 other friends to show up on time (we all know thats a challenge). With the Xbox Live support you can play anyone at anytime. even at 4 in the moring there is SOMEONE to play with. Also the custome armor and choice to be an elite makes the games a lot more personal and fun. Although there have been few map updates, Halo 2 Multiplayer is really hard to get sick of. Bungie got the multiplayer almost perfectly.
Story mode on the other hand was slightly less than it use to be. Halo was known for its amazing plot cleaver level design, and replay value. I still like to play Halo to this day. It was also know for the back tracking, the long long backtracking. People hoped Halo2 would be able to keep the great maps, gripping story and cut out the moments of..plain old walking. Halo2 sadly failed to do this, not only is the plot less interesting, I feel they betrayed the origional Halo by adding levels that you fight along side with the covenant, You arnt even Master Cheif in the last level. No one cares about any of the aliens after killing so many, making them a major point of the plot left u trying to rush through the missions just to be MC again. which leads to the point that there are so few levels. half of which have no replay value. the last half that is. the first several levels are...amazing, I play them all the time, but then the rest feels rushed and pointless. Bungie dropped the ball and I was very disapointed.
The graphics are almost lifelike, plasma grenades never looked so cool. The armor is so shiny and everyhing is just amazing and almost lifelike.
Sound lives up to the Halo title. The right song at the right moment can make the diffrence of an adrenalin filled battle and simple pressing of buttons. Fantastic, no complaints whatsoever.
Difficulty is perfectly done. If you are never challenged in Halo2 you need a girlfriend and a Job. Legendary is the hardest thing I can think of, and in Multiplayer there is always someone better than you (whether you want to believe it or not)
lastly its a game that is very easy to pick up and play, whether you played Halo or not, you can learn how to play in almost no time.
Overal I think any Xbox owner should pick this up, at least rent. If you have Xbox Live and dont own this game you should be shot for being dumb.
