I bought Halo 2 with a new Xbox last Summer because of all the hype about online play and the fact that I primarily like FPS and platform games. I really liked it at first, but after several weeks I lost interest in the online play. The problem for me lies in the fact that the kill balance is unquestionably tilted toward the opponent; it takes you many shots to kill an opponent, but much less for them to kill you. It feels more like a canstant battle for survival than it does a shooter. I admit I'm not exactly a video gaming champion, as I'm more of a casual/weekend player. Therefore, for me the game seems geared mostly toward those who spend lots and LOTS of time learning the game thoroughly, leaving the casual gamer like myself in the dust. I much MUCH prefer to play games like Doom 3 (Xbox) and Quake 4 (Xbox 360). The quality of the game is excellent otherwise, and I like the campaign mode for the 10-ish hours I've put into it so far. It's a great game overall, but the multiplayer requires too much effort to grasp for weekenders like me.
