Halo 2 was propably the most hyped up game of the year and in many ways it delivers what it promised to do. While the singleplayer is indeed short (I managed to complete it within a day of buying the game), it is by no means poor; afterall, it still plays and feels like Halo. However, some changes have been made and many for the better. For once the ability to dual wield is great fun and the new weapons, especially the energy swords add alot to the game. I think I rarely used grenades just because I enjoyed going on a rampage with dual SMGs so much. Some may have complained about the plot and while you do get (stop reading and skip this paragraph if you don't want a minor spoiler!) a MGS2 moment in there i.e you're NOT controlling the master chief throughout the whole game, I equally enjoed playing as the other character and found the plot very interesting, it adds alot to the Halo universe. The sound is the best part of the game, the marines speach is just hilarious and always in tune with whats going on and I never tire of hearing the grunts coware. The graphics while truly outstanding can be quite annoying in the cut-scenes which, while well done, some of the better textures are still being literally added on while you watch it which detracts from the experience somewhat. But even with all of this I still find myself going back and playing it again and again because, even if its not perfect, its still Halo and you know what that means: This game rocks. The set pieces are there and the AIs still devilishly good and great fun to fight against and believe me when I say that you'll be coming back just to replay it on the harder modes because you won't tire of this game quickly.
