Halo 2, despite what some people will try to have you believe is by far the best shooter on any console and it rivals even the best of PC shooters. The controls are perfect, the graphics astonishing, and the sound and gameplay perfection. Never before has a game felt so real and immersed you into it's world like Halo 2 has. Halo was a genre defining title, and Halo 2 bumps up the bar ten-fold. Gameplay: By far the highlight. Campaign mode and Xbox Live play are super-polished and play beautifully. I've spent tons of time online since launch and have yet to experience ANY lag whatsoever, which considering the amount of people playing on Live is a astonishing feat. The biggest thing I like more about the Campaign is the use of vehicles is much more encouraged and it's a huge part of the game. The battles are massive and epic beyond anything Halo threw at you. Graphics: I'm tired of hearing folks complain about the texture pop-in that lasts all of one second when a cutscene starts... Wah Wah, cry us a river. This game is by far the best looking Xbox game yet, pop in or not. I'd much rather have the high res textures and normal mapping in the game to make it look so spectacular than have to not have it due to some minor pop in. The lighting, character models, animation, and particle effects are all the best I've ever seen. HDTV makes this one really shine. Sound: The one point of this title that excels even further than any of the others is the sound. Voice acting is better than San Andreas and any other game ever, and the music is by far the best game soundtrack in the history of videogames. I know that claim will piss some folks off, but get over it. Value: There is so much offered here for the money. A 15 hour campaign with variable difficulties adds reason to play through more than once, but Xbox Live will be what people play for years. It's by far the best online game on any console and offers infinite replay value. There's no better way to spend $54.95. Bottom Line: It doesn't matter if we talk PC's or consoles, Halo 2 is the best shooter ever.
