Excellent.

Halo 2 lives up to its hype, dont believe anything else. Also, by the way, be wary of the other reader reviews on this game. Half of them dont even own Halo 2. That being said Halo 2 lives up to the Halo name and is an excellent extension of the first game. For you Halo players you know the fun factor that Halo had mastered, owned, and mastered again. The game was, inexplicably, so fun that you could play for hours and never get tired of it. The same goes for Halo 2. Besides the pop in textures, which can be very annoying, the game is beautiful while your playing it. Bungie does an excellent job of keeping what you liked, and getting rid of what you didnt. Some other new features add to the fun, like a new suit, new guns and more things I wont discuss. The story, in my opinion is very good and I actually enjoyed the more lengthy cutscenes just because I wanted to learn more. However, the ending is very poor in my opinion and hits you like a freight train. The multiplayer is the best part about Halo 2. Bungie does an excellent job with the online component. While unorthadox at first, you eventually learn to relish it, especially if you are familiar with other xbox live games with ranking systems. Games like Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow, for example, were rampant with ranked game sessions with two buddies on their best game types pounding newbies over and over. With the randomly selected ranked games of Halo 2, you can avoid this altogether and players have to have general skills rather than skills at just one gametype. Also the party system is great. You can start a party, invite your friends, then they invite theirs and before you know it you have 16 people. Host quits? In Halo 2 the host just hands off his duties and nobody has to go find a new game. In a nutshell, if you have Halo 2 and you dont have xbox live, you need to get it. Immediately. Its just not the same game. I could go on forever about online, but I'll let you find out for yourself. Happy fragging.
