Taking place between the events of Halo 2 and 3 you're a rookie with no real purpose in life but to be dragged along for the ride... You've made a rather rocky drop into the city of New Mombasa and you're alone in the dark. Find your missing team and survive is the name of the game. But online you find yourself pitted against players in a variety of multiplayer modes including an all new firefight co-op that puts you and 3 other buddies against waves of covenant squads that is the real highlight of this game.
As with most right trigger shooter games its running and gunning but very well put together as the Halo series has been from the start but remember that left trigger is for grenades which may throw off a great many newcomers to the franchise who come from other great First Person Shooters. Throughout a great portion of the game you're given the ability to use your HUD's VDR (Night vision) that helps outline important things like friendlies outlined in green and enemies in red to outlining objects to further the story. The driving action sequences are well executed but just get old after a while that not even the pretty pretty explosions can keep you interested for too long. Now for you achievement gotta have em all fans most achievements are tracked through the in-game achievement tracker, cool right? But you should give the achievements a look see first as some require you do in a particular area.
The graphics and sound are nothing to blow your hair back but i should note the music from time to time does help set the mood.
My overall conclusion is its an okay game but with the recycled Halo 3 multiplayer, the Firefight DOESN'T cover up the ridiculously short single player campaign that just seems like a vessel for said Firefight mode.
