Halo 3 is not the only reason to buy an Xbox 360 for, but is a pretty good game compared to previous titles
So i decided to take the plunge after bagging a copy for £7.99 pre owned, and TBH i'm not disappointed by Halo 3.
Any Halo title was off my list of Xbox games since i somewhat enjoyed Halo, and was disappointed in Halo 2.
So what may you ask would sway me back to buy a halo title again?
Price as i just mentioned.
I took a chance and i have to admit, its better than Halo 1 and 2 and not just for visuals and audio, the story is half way decent at best, battles are what you'd expect from a shooter.
I'll elaborate on my points:
Visuals: obviously the most improved this time around, but they still look like they're between a Direct X 8/9 level visual, however i'm not exactly bothered about that as i still play DX6/7/8/9/10 games on my PC.
Audio: I feel a little let down by the sound, MCs primary weapon sounds like a nerf gun and doesn't fit the weapon in my opinion.
Grunts are quite possibly the most annoying little buggers in the game, also a few other sounds are out of place in the game, otherwise, no other complaints.
Controls: Like the previous halo games, they suit the console controller, the controls are simple and don't over complicate things, also which is nice is the context sensitive interactions inside the game environment which tells you if something can be interacted with and will tell you what button to press, again not too complicated.
Gameplay: Not a lot has changed from when i last played halo, some improvements have been made over what i remember like not having to hold the left thumb stick to crouch, and Dual welding has made a return from halo 2, oh nearly forgot you can store inventory items like deployable shields, domes etc etc which helps in fire fights.
(Note: i definately disliked playing as the arbiter in Halo 2, and a few others things which put me off)
Conclusion:
As an Xbox 360 owner(and Multi system gamer) it was never high on my list to buy this, but i'm not disappointed in Halo 3, like i said it's an improvement over halo 1, and even more of halo 2.
if i'm honest, i much prefer other games like Gear of War, Perfect Dark/Zero, Crackdown, Metroid/Prime, Mirror's Edge and many other games which have nice quirks to their gameplay.
