Halo 3 manges to reinvent almost everything about the first two games- but at different levels.
I am serious about this review (or blog). Let us leave it at that.
Anyhoo, I would like to begin by saying that I will not introduce much of any of the original game play or background story, as everyone should know about the Halo franchise and series. (And if you're not familiar with it, get the hell off of this page, Private!) To *awkwardly* put this, Halo 3 has been changed...dramatically changed. I won't split this explanation in organized sections, if you know what I mean. The lighting effects and weapon effects have been revitalized, becoming crisper along with the graphics. First off, you'll notice that the button scheme has become a tad bit funky like Sgt. Johnson himself, but thats not a problem. And then you'll ask yourself if the character models even look like the ones in Halo. I don't just generally mean the "graphics." The key to this change are the textures. The sun shines on what needs to be shined on, and the plasma effects look webby and electrifying.
Now comes graphics (in general): the human character models look like CRAP. Their faces are hard to see. Other than that, boo-yah to the textures! XD Then, you'll notice that because of the new energy shield effects, the process of killing brutes (the backbone of the opposing army) will be easier, since even on normal mode, all you have to do is knock off their armor with a melee attack and hit them again for the kill. But, don't let your eyes (or in this case, the mechanics) fool you. Even the grunts are more hostile now, with really strong plasma pistols and demoralizing sexual (i mean it) insults. They even seem to have strategies for killing now! The brutes are the amazing part. They throw bubble shields, flares, and energy drainers whenever they can. And equipped with their enhanced brute shots and spike cannons, they're furious! They're smart, strong, and even resistant against an assault rifle! Here comes another thing we've all been looking forward to: Long missions. Each of the nine missions can take minutes longer than the ones in Halo 2, and on higher difficulties, they take up to 3 times longer! Sadly, this is interrupted by the lack of originality. It seems as if the short campaign of Halo 2 was even more epic than Halo 3's campaign. It isn't as memorable this time around, and sometimes, all you do is go in and arm yourself with a turret, with the objectives being to take out every grunt baby you see. But, I have to tell you, they're still more fun, even thought they're not as epic. I won't talk about multiplayer. I'm just gonna say that the possibilities are endless: Play deathmatches, hold soccer games in Forge, build race tracks, or obstacle courses with shooting targets on fusion cores. It doesn't matter. Drop that Wii friend code and that shiny PS3...head over to Xbox Live with a can of Red Bull. at your human disposal. Overall, I'll say that Halo isn't the old Halo anymore. It's crisper, but not as interesting as the last one...that is, if you don't play co-op on legendary...
