As a FPS gamer weaned on the PC, I am not easily impressed with console shooters. When Halo came out, however, I fell in love. Halo 3 was a GREAT game, with an amazing story, it was more than a 'console' shooter, it was just as good, if not better, than any PC shooter since Half-Life 1. Halo 2 came out, and with the multiplayer bliss, you got a disappointing campaign. While it expanded the story; it was frustrating, annoying, and ultimately broken. The multiplayer was fun- but only after a few new maps came out. Half of the maps were taken from Halo 1. Now we have Halo 3. Despite a disappointing climax- Halo 3 is an epic, and the game Halo 2 should ahve been. The multiplayer game is intact and 40 times as good. The campaign also recaptures the fun of Halo as well. If people felt that Halo and Halo 2 felt epic or large, they haven't seen anything. Despite it's punishing difficulty- Halo 3 feels like a 300, million + budget action flick with a great story to go with blowing things up. Many people complain that the graphics are 'Halo 2 in HD'. Well, they need their eyes checked. Halo 3 is eye popping. It may not be the most realistic looking game, but it has the unique flair that previous games have, and it makes it a signature piece of art to the artist. It shows their style. Hook it up to a big HD-TV, and play on the third level, and when you are in the pit with all the choppers it just looks gorgeous. The only negative to the graphics is the lack of Antialiasing. Halo 3 is a great game, pure and simple.
