Great Game

Ok I have finally finished Halo 3. For the most part I was pleasantly surprised with the game. To sum it up it basically does everything right that the first 2 installments did but better for the most part. There were many new weapons in the game that played very well. I noticed that a huge emphasize on the Alien guns in this game specifically the brute shot, brute spiker and the carbine. The introduction of the gravity hammer was a nice touch too. As for the hand cannon of a pistol that was in Halo 1 being brought back I did not see that. Also I would have liked to see more of the newer human weapons like the1-handed shotgun and the laser rocket launcher. But as I said aside from those complaints the guns were as in the previous installments fun to use.

As for the graphics I would say are better than Halo 2 but definitely not up to par with other recent FPS's like BioShock but the game does hold a solid frame rate. The environments in the game are actually varied this time from everything to a jungle to the inside of High Charity the covenant Holy City. The soundtrack just like in the other Halo games was top notch. The music was excellent as expected. The voiceovers were done nicely as well. The sound effects were pretty well identical to the other installments.

As for the enemies you face they are pretty similar with the other 2 installments. The Brutes are the main focus of much of the campaign and are the equivalents of the Elites in Halo 1 and 2. Some are even equipped with rocket packs that are like the ones worn by the Elites in Halo 2 near the beginning. I would have to say though they did a better job of making the Hunter Killers harder to take down. No longer will 1 well placed shot in the back take them down so they are a much more frightening encounter than they were in the past 2. The story this time does in fact finish. No cliffhangers. One piece of advice if you do not want to be severely depressed…Watch the entire credit for the game. That’s the only hint I will give. The story was excellent. Although parts of it did get a little weird with the whole Cortana talking to you throughout the game in you head when she was not with you. I did not get what that was all about.

Overall I would give this game a 9.5 based on the solid game play, good story and just being overall extremely fun to play.
