I do not play a ton of head to head play online, so my opinion is around the campaign mode. While this game looked tons better, some incredibly scale to some level and had some nice touches, in the end i felt like i just played an expansion pack, or Halo 2.5 which had been rumored back around launch. After playing this game, hearing that Bungie had separated from Microsoft, I think I know why. This game felt over-tested, I almost felt like I was playing Tom Clancy's Halo 3 with the more linear force to paths and solutions. What made original Halo great was that you did get lost at times, and had to work your way out of it.
Also way too similar on some levels that felt like re-skins of Halo 2. The ending was awful, and a near retread of Halo 2's ending which at that time felt like rush to market. Too many useless vehicle based fights. While I enjoy that as a break, the device grows old when over used.

Now, having slammed it, in the end I enjoyed it, was fun, like playing with an old friend, but compared to Bioshock and The Darkness which were the two last games played, it was not up to those levels.
