An experience every gamer must have. Stellar gameplay, value, & multiple difficulties make this must-play for EVERYO
The Bad: The only things that kept this game from being rated a "10" are the fact that the single player could have been longer and driving certain vehicles is very awkward and frusterating.
Halo 3 is not only the best shooter of the year so far, but perhaps the best shooter ever. Aside from the solo campaign that could have been longer and the awkwardness of driving some of the vehicles, this game shines in every way. The story is compelling, will suck you in, and make you care. The graphics are excellent, and I experienced no glitches or problems whatsoever. The soundtrack is one of the best I have ever heard for a game. The music is inspiring and never intrusive. The sound effects are also great. There is a huge variety of great weapons in the game, some of which are thrilling to use because of the damage and destruction they cause. There is a surprise ending.
Finally, another game with split screen co-op. All too often this isn't included in games - I guess a lot of developers forget that it's more fun playing with a friend or spouse in your living room than with strangers online. But Bungie "gets it". There is also online co-op for up to 4 players.
This is a game ANYONE can play and enjoy. There are 4 difficulty levels, and unlike some other games the levels are accurately classified. There are also plenty of checkpoints. Health regenerates if you take cover, so no annoying health packs to search for. Hardcore gamers, casual gamers, shooter experts and not will all find their niche here. And this game isn't just "a shooter". It's an experience and one that every gamer must have. Whether you are into shooters or not, play this game.
Online multiplayer is a blast, with great maps and multiple gameplay modes, both solo deathmatch types and team types. All games should follow this example. There is something for everyone here. There is also a lot of customization for your uniform. And matchmaking is better than on most other games. It's not perfect but at least no one will be over, or under, whelmed by their opponents too badly. The online community is likely to be very active for a long time, years even, considering how long the Halo 2 online community stayed strong. This game has unbelievably great replay value, and is worth every penny. When (not "if") you buy this game, continue watching through the credits. The true ending is after the credits.
This game has just about everything going for it. Better than Gears of War and Bioshock in my opinion, this is an absolute must-play and worth every bit of the hype it received. If you don't own it yet, run, don't walk, to the store STAT.
