biggest let-down of video game history

we've come to expect greatness from the halo franchise, but don't look for it here. campaign took me about eight hours of actual gameplay to beat. (not including the uninspired, boring cutscenes). Granted there are some "easter eggs" but they are hardly worth another trip through the recycled experience of the campaign. most of the Skulls you find make the game less enjoyable, however impossible that may sound. many levels seemed uncomfortably similar to areas in the first two games. and once again, about half of the game is taken up fighting the immensely annoying "flood" characters.

Halo 2 was an immense improvement over the original Halo in many ways, and everything was varied enough to make it feel like a new game experience. There were a plethora of glitches/stunts that were actually worth looking into, and made for countless hours of enjoyment in and of themselves. Halo 3 has nothing of this. It is a boring, uninspired, painfully short first person shooter, and nothing more. The plot is one of the most awful ones ever seen... a holographic woman being tortured? Come on!! There are a few new weapons and features thrown into the mix, but they do nothing to alleviate the disappointment.

sure, it makes for a "good" shooter, but we've come to expect much better from Bungie. The 360 is bursting at the seams with much more interesting and enjoyable ones as it is. Even if you get bored of those, Halo 3 is hardly worth a look.
