Halo 5 Goes Above and Beyond

User Rating: 10 | Halo 5: Guardians XONE

Halo 5 Guardians really wowed me right off the bat with the first cut scene going into the campaign. I was very impressed with the dynamics and game play. The graphics were amazing and makes me believe Halo 5 could be one of the best looking games of 2015. I've played all the games in the Halo series and truly believe that this is the best one yet, if not, tied with Reach. The new campaign features a squad you can now control instead of going in to war solo. I like the idea behind this concept, except it is poorly executed. Sure you can tell them to direct their fire toward an elite, but they'll be to distracted by a grunt or jackal or just not even do it. Their pretty much useless, but as I said before, the concept is a new, fresh idea to the franchise. The missions are challenging yet enjoyable and not very repetitive. It's also interesting to have two teams you take turns controlling. One team having a new spartan Locke hunting down the chief, while the chief has blue team to accompany him.

Multiplayer is just as fun as any other game of the series. With some new features like the spartan slam or shoulder charge, this new addition from 343 Studios is another fun strategy to use against other spartans. The maps aren't the greatest but when you play them long enough they tend to grow on you. The biggest thing in multiplayer now is the brand new Warzone game mode. Warzone offers the old fashion red vs blue along with new cpu covenant and prometheans that you can alternatively kill to earn points to win the match. This mode also lets you customize your load outs with all kinds of heavy weaponry and even spawn in vehicles. This mode is fun and all, but it wasn't enough to get me addicted. Although, it does give you a nice break from the traditional slayer and capture the flag.

Overall, I really, really enjoy Halo 5 and I don't think I'll get tired of it any time soon. It's a great addition to the series and I can't wait to see what 343 does next. I would STRONGLY recommend any xbox user to at least give this game a chance.
