This game has changed my life!

I really don't want to sound corny with the over the top praise for this game. I have waited untill after playing alot more first person shooters including the sequel Halo 2 before writing this review. But in the end its as simple as this: I have never, ever played a game as good as this. I remember when I first bought an Xbox. I was very synical of Halo. I had played the demo, tried the Warthog and really not liked it. I was then persuaded by a friend who said the story is phenominal and once you play it, you'll be hooked. Boy was he right. Single player. Level design is crucial in any first person shooter, and level design is absolutely second to none in Halo. Alot of people have complained about the last third of the game being too repetitive. But it adds another 3-4 hours of fun to the game, and is able to get the story across. The levels also happen to be ridiculously fun aswell. The Covenant have fantastic AI and your allies also are brilliant. The Covenant are one of the best enemies I have come across and each character has something to love and something to fear (apart from grunts who you can only love) "WORT WORT WORT" " NOOOOOOO" and other catch phraises will have you in hysterics and will be often used in conversation with friends. Graphics Spectacular for the time. But most importantly, they are lasting. When i look back at other games from this era, i think to myself that the graphics are poor if not terrible. When I look at Halo I still marvel at the textures and they are most definately passable by todays standards, 4 years on. Multiplayer " the game that launched a million LAN parties" I belive that quote is from the Bungie webstie. It's oh so true. I have had countless 8 player "halo- fests" as we call them. Each one fun, entertaining and more than justify lugging around my 21" bedroom tv. When all the glitz and glamour around this game has gone. When you look past your first impression, you realise, this is to the Xbox, what no other game could do. This game has sold 5 million copies and around 4 million Xbox's and it is Microsofts console seller. It did this and Metroid prime couldn't do that for the game cube, as good as Metroid prime is. Its a phenominom and a game which can proudly sit alongside Half life, Doom-3, Halo 2, Golden eye and pefect dark. I am rating this game by 2001's standards.
