So Microsoft have this epic console, the greatest console to date, surpassed the ps2 and the gamecube in almost every aspect, but they need a game, so they take metal gear solid, final fantasy, alien and a whopping great spartan called master chief and mixed them all up with a spacey future theme and what they were left with is the start of the most legendary series there will ever be.

You are Spartan-117, the last of your kind, you were born to shoot your way through space and time and just generally kick butt, and halo is where you're doing it.

Throughout the game you come across all manner of enemies, ranging from small, cowardly grunts to insane parasitic ex-humans all the way up to great hulking masses of covenant fury with guns the size of teenagers and its your job to pump laser, plasma and lead into each and every one of them.

Halo saved the XBOX from becoming a console based soley on its graphic capability, and turned it into the world's favourite console purely because it is a perfect blend of multiplayer firepower, compelling solo campaigns and a co-op campaign for those who need a little back up.

Whatever your FPS Skill is, just play halo, you'll love it
