Clever gameplay, awesome graphics, and a great story make Halo a game that's sure to be around a while.

Halo is a first person shooter developed by Bungie software. After this debut, their franchise is probably all they'll ever be known for. Halo is a great game. It does many things other first person shooters don't, such as vehicle control and friendly A.I.. It's great fun, with the wholesome variety of weapons and the awesome enemy A.I., but it gets ridiculously hard in spots and even borders on annoying. The spots I am refering to here is when you have to fight the Flood, a race of dumbass creatures that run towards you whack you with their treebranch arms. You'll spend about an hour out of Halo's 10 hour campaign fighting these, but it is so bad that it is worth noting. When you hear that Flood theme song, your heart sinks because you know you have to fight these annoying things that never stop coming at you from behind and killing you. It becomes a completely different game during that hour or so, and is a chore. The good thing is, though, that you will play through the Flood part and finish the game because the rest of it is just so damn good. As far as graphics go, this is a looker. Awesome environmental effects, such as water and sky, the weapon and vehicle models are outstanding, characters move with fluent animation, and great lighting; this is one good looking game. Overall, Halo is certainly worth a purchase (if couldn't derive that from Gamespot's score) and the multiplayer will certainly add some life to the game.
