The original ''Halo'' is the top reason why i purchased the original xbox even above ''Dead or Alive 3'' (the second reason i became an xbox gamer).I heard that ''Goldeneye 007'' for the Nintendo 64 (which i haven't really played yet) is one of the biggest inspirations for the makers of this awesome 1st person shooter.I became a certified fan of 1st person shooters because the weapons,vehicles,graphics,sound effects,music,and level design in the original Halo installment sealed the deal for me forever.If i'm not mistaken the original Halo is the very first FPS ever to enable you to kill your oppenents (A.I. and human) by running over them with awesome vehicles if they wasn't fortunate enough to blow you to HELL with the awesome rocket launcher or skillful grenade tosses.I LOVE the lock-on ability of the rocket launcher,the plasma grenades,the assault rifle,and the M6D pistol weapons.I LOVE the pistol on the game because of the smart linked scope on it that is kind of similar to the awesome and devastating sniper rifle on the game for the best accuracy or deadly multiple headshots (which i LOVE doing) to human oppenents because the pistol on the original Halo is so gangster like the AR is also on this original installment.I also dig the plasma pistol and plasma rifle too.What i LOVE about the plasma pistol is how you can charge up the energy in it for an awesome and very deadly headshot that is extremely rewarding (especially against a human oppenent ) in a multiplayer deathmatch.It is one of my favorite headshots of all time in my video gaming legacy.The gun turret,tank,and the ghost are a lot of fun to use for the innovative and groundbreaking single and multiplayer modes.The original Halo is definitely the reason why i must own the xbox 360 to own and play Halo 3 both online as well as offline despite the fact that the xbox 360 dies because it's the worst video game console ever created scratching up the discs and overheating too much with an extremely noisy fan and DVD drive.
