Halo finally got "Next Gen'D"... Well "Current Gen'D"
You play as a new comer this time around (instead of the series main protagonist The Master Chief) the mysterious Spartan none only as Noble 6 aka Spartan 239. The newest additon to Noble team. An elite squad of Spartan's fending off the Covenant invasion of Reach. (Covenant = alien invaders and religous zealots)
Bungie's approach to story telling this time around was rather cliched. It was better then most of their previous attempts at story telling excluding ODST which inspite of its overall craptacular campaign actually was Bungie's best attempt at story telling.
Majority of the campaign's level design is bland and devoid of life or charcter. Plus it suffers from substantial graphical errors in early levels (motion blur, ghosting, and frame rate issues) but it cleans up significantly after level 3.
Sound still isn't Halo's strong point going for a more creative appraoch to sound then high fidelity. It's soundtrack on the other hand matches that of big budget films and overall sets the mood on many of the encounters and happenings of the story.
What does Reach do well? If not great... Content.
We get; Online MP, Local MP, Firefight, Map editor, thearter, character customization, unlockables, Great A.I., plus more. It's a well balanced diet to say the least. The gameplay seems a bit dated but it still has it's charm and fun.
"THIS IS THE DEFINITIVE HALO." M. O'Donnell. He was right.
Remember Reach... Remember Nobel team.
