Halo Wars is a different and interesting take on the Halo series, bringing the franchise into the RTS world. The concept, itself is interesting as the makers are who made those age of empire games and they do a great job here. The campaign takes you through 15 missions where you control UNSC captain forge most of the time and fight through covenant and flood. The Legendary difficulty is challenging and rewarding after you finish almost every single level, especially mission 4. The campaign has a nice length to it, and by the time you finish the last mission, whether it'd be on legendary or not, you'd want to step into multiplayer. The multiplayer is where this game, as all other halo games, shines. There are 14 maps which provide small variety into the game but if you only play 1 playlist often you'll end up playing same maps most of the time. While the building system is not as in depth as other strategy games, it still provides a satisfying experience if you play against a good player. The cutscenes are phenomenal and tell a great story before and after every mission. The multiplayer system is what's called "easy to learn, hard to master", as first few of your matches you will probably get beat by people in matter of minutes as you start to learn what to do. Ranking system in the game isn't base on skill, but based on how much you play, which shows off some skill as usually high ranking people know how to play game a little bit. Overall, Halo Wars is an interesting game, and if you're looking for a simple RTS game then you should pick this up.
