Meh
That's not to say that the game isn't challeging, as my bullets often miss the enemy even if the targeting reticle is right on him. Then again, when you have enemies that ignore you as you're spraying them with bullets, you can afford to miss sometimes, so maybe everything balances out.
But perhaps the most appalling part of Halo Zero is how it puts Halo's vehicle-driving segments to shame. Just hop in your warthog, hold down the right arrow key, and proceed to the next level. Wheeee.
Now with all that said, Halo Zero does have some high points, including authentic music, and great multiplayer. You can also download a level editor, which is a nice bonus. (Though, you soon realize that having to select an item from the menu every time you want to add it to the level causes level creation to take forever, making this a feature that you'll largely ignore.)
All in all, Halo Zero is a solid game. I really have trouble assigning a score to Halo Zero. Yes, its gameplay is flawed, it isn't nearly as flawed as other user-created games. So the question is, should I be rating Halo Zero in reletivity to all games, or should it just be in reletivity to freeware games? Aw...nobody's gonna read this damn review anyway.
