This plane crashed right into the ground.
(-) Dreadful eye-straining graphics; awkward and loose controls; horrendous voice overs; mystifying commander directions
I'm surprised to find out that some people actually liked this. If you do, then that's okay I can't really say anything. But however, I didn't like this game. There were a ton of problems that were hard to ignore and were difficult to bear even through a little time of gameplay. This game falls just short of the mediocre mark.
My first complaint are the graphics. This looks like a quick unprecedented port from an old PSP game. The environments look blurry and shaggy, the air-craft looks rusty, and the entire game just has a 5th generation feel to it. The Wii could have handled much more effort than this, because it already has graphic powerhouse games like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. I know this game didn't get as much focus as those from the Nintendo market, but I'm just saying more effort could have been made.
Also hard to bear is the terrible voice overs. The voice of your commander sounds screeching high and sharp, its difficult not to flinch and all the other sound there is the loud rumbling of your engine which isn't quite a soothing song either. The explosions from the missiles sound muffled to further make this game stand way, way ahead of its time.
Even though the graphics and sound are near abysmal, you would think that the controls have saved the cause of the game, right!? Not quite. The game would have been a lot easier and enjoyable if all the movement was done with the nun-chuck and the pointer is just used to shoot enemies. I fact that's what I had in mind when I bought this game. But that's not the way they work at all! The only thing the nun-chuck is used is to do a boost. The remote does all the turning once you point the cursor so far from the center of the screen, which makes aiming at the enemies very difficult. The controls make it clear that they just don't work for this type of game after all.
Also the terrible voice overs don't give you accurate directions of what you're supposed to do in story mode either. A command as simple as parking your aircraft if difficult in this game. I did exactly what the buttons were demanding and I kept crashing into the ground. Pure stupid. I managed to kill well over a hundred enemy boats and planes after the tenth time and now its difficult to even park my plane!? That is pure stupid.
Heatseeker was a waste of my money. Bad graphics, bad sound, bad voice overs, bad controls, and bad difficulty, and noting else outstanding that could possibly make up for all these problems. This plane just crashed right into the ground.
