I love when it rains cats and dogs!
Graphics:
Honestly, the loading screen with each individual looks amazing. There must be so many polygons on the screen just to make this characters face looks so real. The character models are amazing, by far the best I have seen yet in gaming history, and I am glad they took the time to do it. The most amazing thing I noticed is the detail in the graphics. If you want to see what time it is, the clocks on the wall actually tell the time! Which you don't see to often. Also, the little things like eggs in the fridge or a beer bottle that has logos... amazing. Honestly, I want Ethan Mars's beard because it looks so real! This game has everything you want in the ps3 Capabilities, and it pushes it to the edge! Even the details in the environments! Driving to the junkyard with a muddy ground shows the tire marks from you driving into it! The graphics are amazing.
Story:
This is what I love most about this game. I love a game with a good story to be told and this game does it. So, in the beginning of the game, you start off as Ethan Mars, with two children and a wife... you know, the happy life. Until, one afternoon, when you go to the mall and lose track of your son Jason. He ends up getting hit by a vehicle, from there Ethan goes down hill. You will follow Ethan throughout this journey, but there are 3 other characters you take control of, and each one all inter-connect to the dramatic climax of the game. The story involves a serial killer called "The Origami Killer" which he kidnaps children between the ages 9 and 14 i believe. So you are trying to find out who this person is throughout the game, but there are several disturbing situations that happen. I wont say because it shocked me, and I want it to shock you's as well. That's all for the story part!
Gameplay:
I had a hard time at first with understand the controls. First of, you walk with R2, and you look around with the left analog stick. Weird... I know. Also, you can press L2, to see what is one your mind, and it also helps with what you should be doing. So through the game there is no actually aiming and shooting. (Sorry TPS/FPS) and there is no punching combos together. There is only quick time events, which sounds bad, but works perfectly in this game and make it even more intense! So, the beginning stage you wake up and you can take a shower, go outside, work in the garden, take a piss, work on drawings. It's an interactive learning level for people to understand the controls. At first they were confusing and hard, but the controller eventually melts away the progress! You become so use to it, until, for me, was the semi-half-circle with the right analog stick, damn they were a pain! Also, for those who want replay value ( i am not one of them) you can play the story as many times as you want, and can get different endings, which is perfect to get the whole entire scenarios that can happen.
Sound:
This is where I had problems with Heavy Rain. First off, the positive. The voice acting is awesome and they fit each characters voice suited to their personalities. Also, the sounds of punching, hitting, dodging, pain, etc... all sound right and amazing. This is a bonus to the game because it helps intensify the games atmosphere, also the intense music in certain moments add to the intensity of the game! For the bad, When you get into an area with the saving origami on the bottom right, this causes the music and voices to stop and it becomes silent, even though the game is still continuing, which causes some frustration throughout the game.
Overall:
This game is amazing in so many ways. I have to give credit to the developers with the camera angles because they are well down and artistic to the max. I have never appreciated a game until now! This game is everything you want in a game. So if you were unsure about this game, don't be. Go and get it!
