emotions will KILL you in this game !!!!

, I loved Heavy Rain. The only other game I've ever played where I felt so close to each character's choice was MGS4, and that game had 10 years of character build up for it. That Heavy Rain both takes the time to make you feel like you're part of the characters and does such a great job of involving you in their events is no small feat. It keeps you thinking about how you might feel if this was your life, and how you would react. When you have to pull the trigger of a gun or slam down on the controller to do a specific action, you feel like part of the action. It's a welcome departure from the monotony and aimless killing of say a L4D2 or COD. But...

As most other reviewers have mentioned there are some plot holes. I will not have spoilers, so don't worry, but suffice to say that some of the on screen actions will leave you confused after you finish the game, and especially during your subsequent playthroughs. My main argument for or against that is that I agree. But while I agree with that, I didn't care when all was said and done. To me, it's a lot like the entirety of Lost. When it's all over, will they have tied up all the loose ends into a neat rope? No, most likely not, and Heavy Rain doesn't promise you this at any point either. I would say that I agree and disagree with GameSpot's review in that they say that there's little replay value since you're tied up in your particular story. Certain things that you may or may not have done may be weird for you in your second playthrough, because it isn't "your personality." This may be true, but in comparison, is killing zombies in your personality? Stealing cars? No, these are things you do in games because that's what the game is. Heavy Rain requires you to think like someone you are not, and sometimes does so in a painful way that makes you feel like a bad person. It's the first game that makes you actually feel the actions at that time, and I mean truly feel them.

I won't really get into weather or not the game looks good or all that, lets say this: I didn't have the issues some people have had with screen tearing, I did have some sound issues, overall it's beautiful and sounds great, voice acting is uneven and often times you can tell the actors are French, controls are weird and very tank-like, but once you're used to it they do fine, timed events work well, although it's sometimes dumb to miss a doorknob 2 or 3 times. That about sums it up really.

Look, if you play the demo and can get past the strange controls and see that the game brings a lot of different things than you've seen, then you should play through Heavy Rain. It's a wonderfully engrossing experience that, while the story has it's issues, is well told and keeps you guessing till the very end
