Heavy Rain gives you a very unique experience that will satisfy you in a very different way.

Let's get something straight and out of the way first of all- this game is definitely not for everyone. However, if it is for you, you will be able to tell, and this game will immediately click and you will enjoy it as a totally different experience unique to that of the gaming experiences you had playing action games and the like.

I will assume that you have reasonable knowledge in this game; reasonable knowledge being that you know that this game is more of an interactive movie than it is anything else. So, obviously, the story is pretty important in this game. You may be wondering if it is any good; well you may worry no more, because Heavy Rain's story is excellent. It is a very mature story, so younger gamers may not enjoy this game as much as an older gamer would, but overall, you will be very immersed in this story.

One could probably argue that the whole game is a huge quick time event, however, that is not quite the case. Sure, there isn't any shooting, jumping, or even running in this game, but that isn't what Heavy Rain is made for. In Heavy Rain, every decision you make alters the story, and that means that you could pretty much go the whole game without responding to one single quick time prompt, and you would still beat the game, eventually (not including the ones where you have to open doors and such).

The graphics are very impressive, to say the least. They are a treat to look at, and I found the lighting and the rain to be the most impressive in this game, possibly the best I've ever seen in a video game.

Of course, I gave this game a "Just Right" on difficulty. Let me get something out of the way- you can never lose. Every action you make, it doesn't matter; you can have one of the main characters dead- Heavy Rain would just continue on without that character. The reason why I classified the difficulty as "Just Right" is simply because if you decide to do the quick time events, then they can be a little challenging, but they are not even mandatory, so difficulty really isn't an issue here.

Heavy Rain will last you a good 8-10 hours, and more if you want experiment with different responses to the quick time events. A rather short playtime, but nothing can compare to the experience you get when you play this game. There is just no other game out there quite like it on these current generation consoles. Overall, this PlayStation 3 exclusive is a must-buy for everyone. You won't have any sorts of "action" moments, which may deter some players, but that is more than made up for with an amazing story and unique gameplay.
