Want something different and enjoyable? This is it.
Heavy Rain reminds me of those "Choose Your Own Adventure" books I use to read as a kid. Heavy Rain as a game is different as other games as it's more of an interactive movie. You dictate what happens and the outcome.
For those expecting a game with very direct control and fast action, you will be disappointed. But if you are open for something different with an interesting story then look no further.
As in-depth information is already readily available here I'll just have a quick run-down on my opinions on some of the gaming categories.
Graphics: (10) Superb. I am a video graphics person. Although it's not the most important aspect of a video game I still immensely enjoy playing something that looks very good, and Heavy Rain ranks up there. A lot of attention to detail was put into this game.
Sound/music: (8) This isn't a fast action game or a sci-fi. You're not going to hear very much explosions and guns firing. But for the type of game it is, the sounds and music fits in nicely.
Story: (10) Some people will probably already know what the outcome will be. Those will also happen to be those that know the ending of every movie they see and tend to always be upset. I for one was very engaged to the story. In fact, it was the story that made me want to just keep playing more and more, like a good book.
Controls: (8) Interacting with the characters is very unique in Heavy Rain. You are presented with options and things you need to do with your controller. You may have to press and hold a series of buttons and/or move your right stick in certain way. The only thing I did not like about the controls was moving the characters themselves around in an area. It felt clunky at times and my characters would move in an unpredictable way.
Replay Value: (8) Heavy Rain has multiple endings depending on what you did throughout the story. So you may be tempted to go at it again and so things differently. Why not a 10? Well, after you do get to see the different endings there will be no reason to even play again.
