Wow! What a movie, er..I mean game!!

User Rating: 9.5 | Heavy Rain PS3
Before buying Heavy Rain, I did read that its style was similar to Indigo Prophecy. I loved Indigo Prophecy a good deal, so I set my expectations high for this one. I decided to buy it, and boy did I do the right thing! Never before have I connected with characters and felt that much emotion in a game, ever! This is an experience, not just a game, and an intense one at that. Any gamer must try this one, it's really that good.

First I'll start with the gameplay. You move your character by holding down the R2 button and move him/her around with the Left Analog Stick. You interact with objects in the environment by moving the Right Analog Stick in the specific way it is displayed to be moved on screen. A lot of things let it be fighting, kissing, fixing wounds, etc..,can be done by doing some sort of button prompt. Holding down buttons simultaneously, shaking the controller, moving it in different directions, moving the right analog stick in certain ways, pressing buttons on time, all that and a bit more can be done depending on the situation you're in. You'll really be on the edge of you're seat when you're in some sort of fight sequence and you have to do those prompts correctly and fast, and it's really fun too! Some tense sequences can get you thinking: "Oh no no no what do I do now??!" followed by some curse words in your head, or out your mouth lol, well at least that's what I do to make it more fun, I usually use the s-word and the f-word a lot in those situations:P. Even when you're in a situation where there is no action, you just feel that you need to do your actions right, like rocking a baby to sleep. It feels realistic, really realistic! In this game, it's all up to you. Your decisions determine what happens in the game. In a lot of cases it's really hard to decide what words you should say or what action you have to perform, which kinda makes you wonder if you did the right thing or not, but either way it will lead to something whick keeps the game going. Some decisions reeeally affect what happens in the game! Try to choose wisely! My favorite thing I felt a connection with the characters. I felt really bad about some wrong decisions I did in the game, because I just beat the game and got a rather bad ending. Either way it was an exhilarating experience, and maybe some time I'll give the game another go and see what happens with other decisions. What bothered me a little was the character movement, because turning the character isn't really very good. It did get frustrating at one point when I was playing as Ethan and I had to crawl through a narrow maze-like thing with shards of broken glass. The camera angles made it confusing, so tilting the Left Analog Stick in a certain direction got Ethan to move in another direction, and it was pretty slow too! But that is very rare. That's like, my only complaint about the gameplay. Everything else? Superb. Awesome story too! However thare are a few plot holes that will leave you scratching your head. Oh, I also liked how the game showed us how to make an Origami figure, sweet!

Now the graphics. Fantastic, fantastic, and how about, fantastic? Yeah those graphics are insane! A lot of the environments are really detailed down to the bone! Including most of the objects. A good example would be when we're playing as Shelby and we're in this grocery store, everything looked so real. Speaking of real, every time the game loads to a different scene, you see the face of the character you're gonna play as next. Now those faces are done very nicely! You can like see the pores in Norman's face, all his beard spots, that little pimple he has, detailed eyes, and the mouth of course. That kind of detail goes on every character's loading screen. The rainwater looks pretty cool too! While those graphics may be amazing, there are a few problems with the frame rate, and sometimes close inspections might not be very good, but they're not that noticable. I did however love the fluid movement of the characters, I was surprised at how fluid the crowd movements were! The peoples' faces were actually detailed pretty good. Like most games with kissing, kissing animations are never really that impressive:P but I always let that slide lol.

Sound. That's actually a big contributor to the connections you feel with the characters. First of all, the musical score is awesome! Really, it is just perfect, for each kind of situation there's always some kind of musical sound to make it even cooler, just like in the movies. Most of the voice acting was very talented. I was going to give the voice acting a full mark, but I did notice that a few characters were a little weak, but nothing major. The rainwater, yeah we know that sounds good too!

In conclusion, that was an amazing movie I mean game! Damn, why am I getting those two mixed up? hehe:P Yeah, it's that good. An interactive movie, and an insane one at that.

P.S, anyone should try it out
P.S, it's totally worth the money,
