This title has top 10/10 reviews from all the critics - and it's hard to see why, as it does not feel like a game at all and it is simply not fun. The game is essentially a psycho horror drama set in a mythical viking age, but it doesn't really feel like a game to enjoy and spend hours in, it feels more like a showcase demo of the graphics engine.
First the good - The graphics are outstanding - best I've ever seen in a video game. The photorealistic effect makes it look like a movie filmed in realtime. The gfx are mindbogglingly good. The controls are also pretty good.
That said the game is very slow paced, not much action and long periods of time wandering around. The combat is basic but I found it ok, although there are long periods of exploring in between combat set pieces which typically comprise waves of the same ghost enemies respawning and coming back at you. The game reminds me of red dead redemption 2 which is also fantasic looking eyecandy but boring AF !
The game is also pretty annoying, lots of hidden clues, trying to find hidden doors to go through, hidden puzzles (I hate puzzles in games), which only extends the periods you spend wandering around and makes it feel like a filler time sink. It is really non-intuitive, there is no way anyone can complete this game alone without having to look up walkthroughs on youtube to see what to do next. There's no minimap & no HUD, eveything is done by blind exploring and really there isn't much of a story. Also annoying are the constant whispers of voices in Senua's head telling her what to do.
I'm sure (professional critics aside) that some people will love this title (especially people who like horror games and puzzles), but it's really not for me. It's also quite a short game of around 7 hours so probably not worth the full price tag.
