I feel only hardcore Heroes fans would care to spend their 40 hours on it.

Given that there's only one new faction, there's no other reason to want to play this game other than ticking off the list of Heroes series to complete. Well, actually for really dedicated Heroes V fans, Hammers of Fate acts as a higher challenge with trickier level designs and harder choices to make.

It's a little lame playing the entire first campaign with the original Haven units, and even the new Renegade units doesn't necessarily add much excitement to it all. The only thing that can glue you in is that you at least have a new hero to customize and beef up.

The Dwarfs campaign is quite well made luckily in my opinion, and the units are well designed and powerful as well that at least made the expansion worth something. The Magma dragons kick butt too. There are some new music, but not exciting.

Ultimately, even as a self-declared hardcore Heroes fan, I wouldn't buy the expansion when it first came out. It's better off getting the compilation which still bears the bargain price instead.
