The bottom line is: there are way more things to hate about this game than there are to like.

If the fact that this game is a turn based strategy game as well as a PC Port on technology as primitive as that found on the Gameboy Color, isn't enough to turn you off, then, by all means, read on: The concept of this kind of game on a portable system doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me since the appeal of handheld systems are to be able to pick up a game and play something quick and simple to either kill downtime or have some mindless fun. This game however, takes a very long time to not only wrap your mind around the mechanics of the different aspects of the game from resource management, exploration, battle and strategy. But also to amass enough resources and troops in order to finally get into the meet of the game, which is conquering a given map. Also since this is a turn based game much of your time will be waiting for the computer players to take their turns, making the first half hour of most games a boring and tedious experience. Now, there are some good aspects to this game such as the sheer amount of maps to choose from when you first start playing. Each map tells you the difficulty level as well as the size of the map. Furthermore each game is unique due to the randomly generated resources and hidden caves. The flow of the game is as follows. You have units and a castle usually to start. In a turn each unit is able to move a certain distance and you may build things with your resources. Resources can be found by exploring and finding them in caves or wining them in battles. In addition to resources you also gain experience from winning battles. Amassing a large and powerful group of soldiers and steadily exploring the lands killing everybody is the key to victory. Unfortunately it gets dull soon and the visuals and sound are nothing special. If you must play a game in the genre it would be worth it to try and find another game even if you have to invest in a different system from the GBC.
