I had personally never played DOTA before playing Heroes of Newerth, so to me, this was a brand new game. This game does however require that you learn a lot which can seem intimidating at first, but over time you will understand what items and heroes there are, and what they can do. After you learn this, then you focus on getting better with each of the heroes, so eventually you can play any hero on any mode and be decent enough to compete.

Heroes of Newerth is an arena style game where the default mode puts 5 players vs an opposing 5 players, where each team can choose a hero to control. These heroes start at level one and have 4 built in abilities at their disposal and proceed to level up throughout that single match. The winning team is proclaimed when the opposing teams shrine falls.

While this may seem repetitive, the re-playability of the game is remarkable. No match is played the same way as the previous one. A single mistake can mean the difference between victory and defeat. With over 60+ heroes at your disposal, there is limitless team possibilities.

Overall a good game, and should be played especially if you are new to the genre.
