Hitman 2 is a good assassin game, but some aspects of it keep it from its full potential.
The gameplay was decent---not the best---but decent. One of the more irritating aspects of the gameplay was that you couldn't run in your disguise or people will notice you. I do respect the realism it tries to emulate, but it's not really necessary to add this into the game. I've gotten into many stressful situations because of this. Secondly, the sneaking was a bit slow compared to Blood Money...yes I played Blood Money before this one. Basically, you only sneak when the occasion calls for it, because you definitely can't catch up to other people when you're sneaking. The few good gameplay aspects I've noticed were the slick moments of gunplay and sniping that satisfied my assassin craving. Some parts of the game, however, you'll find very difficult to pass through.
The graphics were not the best, but fairly good for its time (which was back in 2000 or so). You could still see a few glitches here and there, but overall, it was consistent, which equals good on terms with me. 47 still looks like 47.
The sound was where it truly shined. Jesper Kyd's soundtrack really blew me away with his unique style and mix of classic and hints of electronic. I was really amazed with how it set the tone for Hitman. Not just the music, but the voicing from the characters were great, especially David Bateson providing the voice for our bald assassin. He nails the voice spot-on and it really sticks with you. Not much else to say here.
The value isn't that great. I really couldn't find myself playing it over and over again, unless I had nothing else to do at the moment. The only bit of replay value that allows it to have an 7 is that you could go back and try to achieve the silent assassin ratings at the end of each mission. Because of the gameplay, the value is affected as well.
Overall I had a fairly good experience with this game, because of some memorable missions and mostly the voiceover and music. Although it hasn't truly grown to its fullest, yet, the Hitman series sparks a lot of potential, because it really sets the bar for assassin-type games and establishes Mr. 47 as one of the few badasses that few games could ever produce.
