Great game, feels very unique. For all those who, one day, wanted to be a killer for hire!

Hitman is a pretty unique game. Before starting this review, I must say I never played the first game (released for PC), therefore I will not be able to determine what changes were brought, good or bad. So let’s get it on.

“Step in the world of a cold-blooded killer for hire, hunting and stalking your prey in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

It’s completely up to you how to fulfill the contract. Be warned, some of your targets are heavily guarded, as well as completely paranoid. They’ll be expecting you.” -as usual from my reviews, this is the resume on the back of the box.

It says so much, yet so little. You are a killer for hire, namely Agent 47, and you will receive contracts to achieve, each with their reasons. Usually it’s all about assassinating a specific person, or several of them. But don’t worry, this game isn’t only about this, it actually has a story. You start off in a church, beautiful place, and suddenly, your friend Padre Vitorrio is kidnapped. While the only thing 47 really wants is to save his friend, he will be forced into the business again. Ya know the kind of.. Give us some and we will give you some. Then there is no other choice but to complete the contracts you are offered to get information on where or who kidnapped Vitarrio. Basically that’s it and it’s a lot of missions to get to save your friend. Anyway, on to the rest.

In Hitman, you sure can go out busting caps at everybody, but it is recommended (and feels much better) to go stealthy. Killing enemies with a fiber wire, poisoning them, planting a bomb and waiting patiently for the right moment to blow it up, all that kind of stuff. You can also disguise yourself to blend in better and make your chances greater. This is a required feature for the game, without it, you wouldn’t go too far, believe me. In each mission you are required to achieve certain goals and sometimes going out busting caps will result in a mission failure, so you better be a patient person if you plan on playing Hitman 2: Silent Assassin. With all this, it is definitely my style of game and most stealth/action fans will greatly enjoy this game. You have many weapons in the game, way enough missions to keep you busy for a while especially if you try achieving the Silent Assassin rank. Depending on the stats of the mission, you will be awarded a rank, Silent Assassin being the highest of them. Of course, to earn it, a lot of stealth, patience, observation and a lot of thinking is needed. You’re probably starting to see the kind of game it is, so if you’re one of those who needs everything to happen quickly and get over with it as soon as possible, don’t even read any further and drop the game. Anyway, all of these lil’ features are great and makes for an awesome stealth game.

The controls are pretty well done, although beginners and new comers might find them awkward at first. It takes some time to get used to them, but once you are it works pretty well. They pretty much resemble the common first-person shooter games, which is good because you can decide whether you will play in first-person view or third-person directly in game. I never had any kind of glitch or mal-functioning button in my entire play through, which is good. You’ll learn them soon enough.

The music fits the game quite well, though I’m not sure if it is only me, but I’ve felt like it was pretty repetitive. It just sounded the same in every missions, or almost to the least. The sound effects are pretty well done though, and anyway, music isn’t something you go wild on when moving stealthily to avoid being seen or heard.

The game is pretty, sure isn’t one of the best looking games ever, but hey, it was still pretty well done. It renders pretty well. I don’t think the game has any unlock able features other than some in-game weapons, but it doesn’t really matter. The Silent Assassin ranking will offer great replay, the missions (most of them) just never seems to get old. You might have a hard time following the story accordingly, although it is a simple story, only because you will be so concentrated in succeeding the mission, finding the perfect path, the perfect timing, the perfect actions to take that you tend to forget whatever else can happen outside of the gameplay. This was a short review in my opinion, lots of typing, such a small review though, widely enough to give you the temptation to play though. I can’t tell what’s going to happen in the game, who you’re after, what and where and whatever, this would spoil the game for you. What’s magical about a game? Watching it happen before your eyes. I highly recommend this title to EVERY stealth/action games fans. New comers to the genre are welcomed to play this as well, it is such a unique game you can’t do much but admire it. If you don’t like it, then you are a pretty difficult spoiled rat. Just kiddin! You’re allowed to have your own tastes, but matter of fact is I recommend this title to absolutely everyone who ever dreamed of being a killer for hire.
