Hitman 2 could have been just so much more. So many things plague this game and stop the user from enjoying it. Gamplay: This is where the biggest problem lies. This game is played in either the 1rst or 3rd person perspective and all the missions are based around killing one or more people. As a hitman, you want to be sneaky and stealthy, going about buisness without causning commotion. You are given the tools to do so, and take out your targets with a knife, anastetic, poisen or fiber wire. While using these items sounds cool, in practice it is usually impossible or inpracticle. On one mission you couldnt alert guards. I walked passed a guard and he shouted something in a cheesy badly done europen accent. I ran a good 1 km game distance behind a building away from anything in sight. The guard continues to follow me in a slow pace. When he catches me 1 km later he puts his hand in my face and tell me to leave. When he walks away, I use the fiber wire to silently choke him. Atleast silent I thought. See he may have been out of sight and 1 km away from anyone, but somehow in his silence, all the guards were instantly alerted and I failed the mission. Also, in ever location you visit in the game, it is illegal to run. Not only illegal, It is a death penalty. If you are caught running anywhere in the game, everyone will start to shoot you. Obviously if someone is running they are up to no good and should be shot. So you are forced to walk which I can say is the slowest walking ever implemented in a game. Think of the underwater missions in star wars knights of the old republic, Yes that slow. Even if you are in a security guards clothing, or even a generals clothing for that, you are shot and killed if caught running. No trial, no jury, dead. So you walk for 10 mins and manage to get a guard uniform or somethign of that manner and you get inside the compound you want ot be in. Still every single security personal in the building will stop YOU and only you countless times. Checking your id and randomly deciding that you arnt supposed to be there. They beging firing. You can now pull you your guns and kill everyone there because there is no enemy ai and it is ver very very easy to just go into a mission guns blazin. It seems they implemented ideas into the game just to make it bad. There are snipers that you cant see but sometimes you are just walking and you see on the screen "sniper has you targeted". Then sometimes you are just randomly shot by these snipers (if you have a disguise or not) and killed. Yes, there are several ways to finish missions. But none of the ways apart from killing eveyone are well implemented and the part that does work (killing everyone) is just not fun. Graphics: Nothing special. I was disapointed that they took bullet marking out. To me, that is a step back in the graphical department. That takes out the dark atmoshpere present in the first game. Sound: Good powerfull music when you load the game up. Guns sounds are decent. All other sounds (enemy sounds) are very bad and very repetative. I think there is one sound for every different enemy by nationality in the game. Seeing as there are 2 nationalities, that brings us to 2 sounds you will hear the entire game. Value: While the higher difficulties give you extra objectives and limitations, the game is too bad to play them. In conclussion, this game isnt worth a rental. The mechanics are so quirky that I must have said "what?" a million times while playing this.
