The Battle For the Isle Of Swill.
Apparently the game has some sort of storyline. In the middle of an ocean called Pigsific, lies an island known as Saustralasia. The island is very rich in nature and resources but swine scientist has discovered an infinite amount of swill located in the bottom of the island. Now six rival hog nations fight each other in order to take control of the prestigous land of Saustralasia and to possess all the precious swill in the island. So much for that, now for the gameplay.
Hogs Of War has two gameplay modes, single and multiplayer. In single player, this is the main campaign of the game in which at the start you choose one of the six teams for you to use in the campaign. The six teams are of course a bunch of pigs named after the country they came from. Namely they are Tommy's Trotters (Britain),Uncle Ham's Hogs (USA), Sushi Swine (Japan),Sow-A-Krauts (Germany),Piggystroika (Russia) and Garlic Grunters (France). There is also a hidden team by the name of team Lard that compose of different pigs from the other nations. Single player offers 25 diffucult missions and your are given an objective on each mission. Once you completed the task you are by given some promotion points that allows your grunt pigs to achieve a higher rank. You can classify them in any specialty like heavy weapons,espionage,engineer and medics.
The battle campaign is the best part of the game. The game has more than 40 weapons and power-ups that can be use to make mincemeat out of the opposing team. These weapons are categorized on the way you promote your pigs to their specialties. So for example if your pig is a Espionage Spy your weapons includes a sniper rifle and some gas grenades. Medics can use tranquilizers and medic balls. It's very good to try and experiment on different specialties so you can use any type of weapon.
As much as the power of the Playstation can do, the graphics of the game doesnt really gives much attention. The pigs on the other hand are designed fairly even though their facial experiessions cannot be seen. But the huge mission levels and vibrant surrondings really pays off. Hogs Of War has plenty of humor from both the cinematics and the voice acting. Everytime one of your pig dies, it mentions some kind of dying words before it explodes and their accent depends on what team you selected. And the background music really matches the situation of every battle.
Hogs Of War's multiplayer mode is a bit frustrating sometimes and even unfair. Like when your team has 5 pigs and your oponent has just one left, it's very easy to take advantage on your oponent. But despite of that it all ends with a good laugh. Oh yeah you can play up to 4 players via the multitap for more added entertainment. The value of the game is not that high but the single player mode can last more than 20 hours depends on your skill and the multiplayer is only good if you have friends in your house. I highly recomend this game to anyone even if your not a fan of the strategy campaign genre. If you want a humorous and friendly game, then this one is for you.
