Homefront isn't the prettiest game but it offers something different to the COD's of the world. Definitely worth a look
The visuals are, to be honest, nothing that is jaw dropping. However, they aren't terrible either. The game also doesn't have the smooth framerate that COD offers as it moves more like Battlefield 2. Again, nothing that I would consider a game killer.
Where Home Front stands out is in sound and map design. When I first read that Team Deathmatch would have 12 on 12, the fear of spawn deaths jilted my brain. However, having played through several games I found that the map sizes to be adequate to where you are always in the fight yet not getting cheap deaths to spawn campers.
However, if you are used to Black Ops' run and gun style where it sometimes takes an entire clip to drop someone, not here. In Home Front, you are forced to use cover and teamwork. The more you help your team (ala BF2) the more points you get.
One element that I enjoy is the ability to spend points earned in the game immediately to launch one of your two special items (there are a ton of unlockables). Launching a drone, for example, you control its flight and if you identify targets you get points. Someone kills one of the enemies you targeted, you get more points.
The multi-player is deep. Anyone familiar with first person shooters will have no issues picking this one up.
All in all, I find Home Front to be an enjoyable alternative to other shooters out there. If the developers have post-launch support for this game, Home Front has the potential to make a name for itself in the shooter genre.
As of yet, I have not tried the campaign....
