An inspiring story filled with fresh and original ideas, but fighting for freedom is too short and disappointing here.

User Rating: 7.5 | Homefront PC
The Good: Fresh and original ideas, the main goal - fighting for freedom, last mission, finally someone who wasn't afraid to show the true sight of war, inspiring story.

The Bad: "Empty" main character who can't speak which I hate, the campaign is too short, overall lost potential, something is missing in this game.

I had huge expectations of Homefront because I really like all kinds of ideas which are strictly connected with fighting for freedom and etc. I like playing as someone who fights for an independence and liberty. That's why when I heard that Homefront will have fresh and new ideas and the gameplay is about fighting for liberty I thought it will be a fantastic FPS which will compete with games like Black Ops or Battlefield. Unfortunately, this game disappointed me.

In Homefront we play as an American pilot who helps the freedom fighters in fighting with the enemy who are North Koreans. The entire country is at war and our only goal is to retrieve our freedom and independence. We must take it from our enemy no matter what.
I must say the story is pretty nice and interesting, unfortunately the main character is empty. He doesn't speak and we don't even know how he looks. We are only a shadow because the true heros are our companions. I hate it when the protagonist doesn't speak. It's so stupid and primitive for me. The only explanation is that the developers are just lazy.

Homefront is a very brutal game which shows the true reality of a war. Seeing a small child crying after when his parents have been shot by North Korean soldiers in front of his eyes is very controversial but this is how a war looks like unfortunately. In my opinion, this title could be a one of the best FPS out there, but something is not right here.

The gameplay itself is no different from a typical FPS. We are a freedom fighter so make diversions, some rescue attempts. Overall we have to defeat the occupier. There are some epic moments in Homefront and the most memorable one is the last mission which is the battle of Golden Gate Bridge. The music at the beginning of this mission is awesome you'll see hehe.
What about the weapons? We have variety of the machine-guns, some pistols, shotgun. But the most badass weapon is the Goliath - a heavy combat vehicle which is very quick and deadly because it has rockets. We can control it and use it to make the North Korean soldiers cry hehe. Moreover, we will also shoot from a helicopter and fly it by the end of the game.

The graphics in Homefront is good, but not stunning. Camouflaged houses and rebels baracks look nice and climatic, but some objects lack details. The character models aren't very special. Overall the environment could be on a higher visual level.

The music and voice-over isn't something special neither. There are some nice piece of music but not many. Also, I had some bugs with the sound from the environment. Dunno why. Maybe it's my PC maybe not. To be honest, when it comes to PC, you never know what will break hehe.

To sum up, Homefront is a good FPS with new and original ideas like fighting for freedom for example, but the main character who is an "empty" person, the fact that the game is very short (around 4 - 5 hours), too short and overall lost potential make Homefront a disappointing title. Too bad. I hope Homefront 2 will be much better and longer. I hope the developers will use more of the potential which this game really has. This is still a good FPS, but something is missing here.
