User Rating: 10 | Horizon Zero Dawn (Collector's Edition) PS4

This is a review of the Playstation 4 Pro version running at 3840x2160p on a Samsung 4k television (resolution favored in the game options settings)

Rarely in my roughly 40 years of gaming have i experienced anything like this game. An experience i really don't want to part with, by finishing it. Guerrilla Games have made something truly special for you to enjoy. Horizon Zero Dawn is the pinnacle of video game design and game play. Masterpiece isn't the best word to describe the game.

As a young lady named Aloy, you'll learn to hunt and explore throughout a truly expansive open world. Discover it any way you want. You'll wander through forests, over mountains, upon remnants of cities long since rusted away in form, but not forgotten. Throughout your journey in Colorado in the far future on Earth (the game setting), you'll find out what really happened. Whether in bits and pieces encrypted on metal flowers or reading old data pads scattered about the land. You'll also discover many of the inhabitants. Some human. Most, not so human. All of these things are presented in stunning detail. From the scratches and dents upon the metal components of the machines, the way the wind flows over the grass in a storm, or the animation and voice-work of the main character Aloy.

Herein the story is set in which surviving members of humanity have all formed different tribes. To survive, they scour the lands high and low for scrap or components. Many times they quarrel between themselves for a sense of order. All of this happening ever so close to the watchful eyes of the machines. If you thought the first time you fought a dragon in Skyrim was the best moment in gaming, or taking down a level 30 Wyvern in the Witcher 3 was epic, you haven't seen anything until you meet not one, but two Thunderjaws. For advice? bring many extra potions and traps and some luck. You can craft many things in Horizon Zero Dawn. Hopefully, Guerrilla Games is also crafting more from the world of Horizon.
