potential, but felt like a rushed cheap product

I was initially put off by the reviews of this game but I picked it up for $8 and feel it is still passable if you like fantasy games.

Hunted is basically a mix of gears of war and army of two but set in a fantasy world. It takes the usual path of linearity you'd expect but there are still some side dungeons you can deviate off to which was interesting.

The world has a very dark and macabre feel to it in parts, this is kind of refreshing I find as rpg's now tend to have gone for teen ratings too much to get sales.

There are also upgrades you can add via a skill up, there isn't much though of anything rpg wise. The only thing you can upgrade is some shoulder guards throughout the game, armor stays the same and their are no stat points. You can't store more than 2 weapons so you upgrade by just swapping your old weapon for a new one

you play as either of two characters an elf or a human, they are quite humorous and likable as they both have a constant stream of sarcastic dialogue through the game in relation to their situation. The story is fairly fantasy standard, an evil threatens the land and it's up to the 2 adventurers to uncover the deeper plot.

The graphics though are not that great, some areas look like it could run on an xbox and there's occasional screen tearing and sometimes you'll notice some graphics irregularities like with shadows. The level design is very boxed in and feels like they haven't had much time on it.

Controls are ok and basically same as gears with the cover system.

If you play alone the AI does a decent job of playing the other character. I found it preferable to play as the ranged elf while the AI took the tank role. The enemy AI does an ok job of staying in cover and harassing you.

Problem is overall the game just feels cheap, from the rushed graphics and bare bones interface, the basic talent tree, uninspired level design and just general oddities you'll notice. They either had extreme time constraints or a very limited budget because it shows. This is not a game I would have paid full price new.

If this was a modern shooter game I would score it alot lower but there are so few fantasy games in this shooter genre I am prepared to give it as passable score. Surprisingly I didn't encounter any major game breaking bugs, though there was some side quests I couldn't seem to finish
